alise-barrymoreAlise Barrymore is a dynamic pastor in Chicago who preached an out-of-this-world sermon about Jay Z and Kanye West’s song, “No Church in the Wild” at the Progressive Youth Ministry conference. (You can see the music video on YouTube.)

Originally from Detroit, the Reverand Dr. Alise is going to offer a class about how to create church in the wild… as an answer to the criticisms posed by this edgy song. Simply stated, Rev. Alise is committed to creating a safe place for people to seek and see God and we’re excited to have her with us this year!

reyes-chowBruce Reyes-Chow describes himself as 1/5 pastor and chaplain, 1/5 preacher and speaker, 1/5 consultant and coach, 1/5 blogger and author, and 2/5 stay-at-home dad. He’s got a great blog site at reyes-chow.com so check it out!

Bruce wrote a book called, But I Don’t See You as Asian: Curating Conversations about Race.
Bruce says, “In my writing, speaking and living, I am committed to expressing a Christian faith that is beautifully complex, unimaginably just and excruciatingly gracious. I believe that society and the church are strengthened by talking about such issues as: denominationalism and the future church; faith and technology; race and politics, parenting, urban living, etc. Throughout it all, I also believe that humanity has the capacity to engage in passionate, difficult and transformative conversations without being mean-spirited, dehumanizing or vitriolic in tone or tactic.

Bruce will be teaching a class and helping us curate some cool conversations about race.
